Strategy& fish - i’m currently recruiting for org strategy. Ive talked to associates (in the healthcare practice) and theyve mentioned that it doesnt matter whether youre in corp strategy, org strategy, etc and that you’re pretty much pooled by industry when it comes to staffing.
Can someone confirm this? Also, what do you expect the restructuring to look like?

Pwc1 doesn't know what (s)he is talking about
Idk if other firms have something similar but I know we have a service Mckinsey pays for that lets you pump while you're on the road and then ship it home
I won't pretend it's easy but it's doable. It's important to have help (family, au pair). Our firms are generous (from a US standpoint) when it comes to leave and I believe Accenture will guarantee a local role for the first year. I managed to have two kids at the manager level and breastfed / pumped 11 months with the first and 9 with the second. Your career trajectory may slow down a bit relative to your peers that don't start a family but it's worth it and doesn't mean you career is over. It just takes a slightly different journey to accommodate added focus on family. The way I always looked at it was I'd rather not make partner but have kids than make partner and then it be too late to have kids. Doesn't mean you can't have both but I didn't want to take the chance.
MBB here. I also totally doable with support / help. I actually think I'm better at the job because I ruthlessly prioritize to make time for family.
I am, any specific questions? Little one is 11 months old
McK1- Accenture pays for that too! They also pay for a breast pump. It must have been someone's pet project because I swear to got the highlighted it on every benefits page I saw when interviewing.
My manager a few years back was always pumping. She did her thing, all was well.
I pumped til my daughter was 15 months and started traveling when she was 5 months. I honestly missed it when I was done. You just block time for it during the day, my team of all guys was very understanding. Then just plan around it for the evening. You have dinner or want to work out maybe lump before leaving client.
Ruthlessly protect your time pumping. Put it on your calendar and never miss it. I have had a few folks ask me why I was taking a call from another room and I was up front about why. No more questions asked 😀. Out of curiosity, how long are you planning on taking off? I did 24 weeks and it was the greatest decision I have made. Also, you do what works best for you and your career on travel vs. Local. Talk to other women at your office that have / are doing both and get their perspective.
Don't breastfeed! It causes cancer.
Well ACA actually guarantees insurance pays for a breast pump
I'm a manager with an almost 2 yr old and 1 on the way (that I haven't told work). I'm up for Director this year and I feel if I don't make it this year my chance of promotion the following year is slim because of the time I take off. So it's doable to be manager and a Mom but you have to make sure you discuss with work and your spouse your goals.
So good to know about the shipping of your breast milk!
Really great and honest input, everyone. I guess I am just struggling at how I tactically will breastfeed for the first 6 months if I am traveling, and 2) not want to kill myself since my weeks already seem so busy. I can see being stuck on unglamorous local projects taking a toll on one's career trajectory (especially not being able to travel where the cool work is) but agree on the ruthless prioritization.
