I am a software engineer based in Bangalore, India, and I work remotely. I am planning a 6-week vacation to UK. During this period, I intend to work remotely for 3 weeks.

My question is: Is it okay to work remotely from the UK on a tourist visa, or do I need to inform HR or obtain permission to do so, if yes, what is the process to get that permission? Has anyone else had a similar experience, and if so, could you share any advice or necessary steps you took?
