Do you have a classroom coach?

I don't know about you, but we are barred from our campus and don't have access to our rooms. What's something that you wish you would have remembered to bring home with you from your classroom?

Has anyone taught Romeo & Juliet before? I am worried about the suicide scenes, as I have a few students who recently attempted suicide. How do you deal with that aspect in your classroom?

I like to stand near the doorway when my kids enter the classroom and say hello to each one of them. About half of them are now saying hello back! Winning!

I have taught at 5 different schools yet only Henrico Co PS place a moderate value on Behavior intervention as a means of response to disruptive behavior, creating rapport , restorative circles and trauma informed care. Suspensions are not a long term deterrent to violence, bullying and resolving our children’s mental health issue. Are your school systems supporting consistent and prompt intervention policies?

How do you organize the resources you use for each class?
There are so many good websites, videos, and information, but I need better ways of saving/organizing.
I already use Google Docs, but have yet to try Google Classroom.

Hey! I’m a self-contained teacher for grades K-2. This is my first year at the school I’m currently in, and apparently in the yearbook every year they have a class page solely for the handful of students in my classroom. They do this instead of putting my students in the yearbook page of the class they participate in for inclusion services. I feel like this is extremely wrong and violates some privacy laws. Do y’all have suggestions on how to bring this up with admin and the yearbook director?

I'm transitioning from teaching 8th grade mathematics at a public school to teaching a 7/8 self-contained classroom at a charter school.
Any advice for teaching mixed grade levels or multi subject is appreciated: scheduling, classroom setup, subject order, behavior management, etc. I'm struggling to find my rhythm with only 6 weeks before kids return.

My principal has told all teachers in my district that we must add him to our Google Classrooms as a co-teacher. Many teachers feel that this is inappropriate and implies that he doesn’t trust us. How would you all react to this?

We are out of substitutes. Now they are splitting classes up and spreading the kids around out already full classrooms. 😣 Anyone else experiencing this?

I work in a self contained classroom. A parent of one of my kids wants to come and volunteer after learning all my staff quit. Can I allow her to do this? Admin has no idea and I'm not sure with FERPA laws.. advice, suggestions? What can I have her do if she can come?

Can someone explain why some students are allowed to stay in school, even after battering multiple Gen Ed teachers? We don’t have an EI program. When concerns are brought to admin and professional support staff, the response is they don’t see this child as a threat at all.

I have had an aide for over a year. She tries to befriend kids instead of playing an adult role. She can’t tell them no and gives them whatever they want, even if it’s interrupting my lesson. I’ve asked her to do simple tasks and she doesn’t seem to be able to, I either correct her work because she can’t do it right or do it myself. She sometimes goes from 0-100 on a kid who is not listening to her, which makes me uncomfortable. Instead of saying no she deflects to me so I seem like the bad guy.

I'm trying to help some first year teachers with classroom management. What are some of your best tips to get your class' attention that l can pass along to them without yelling at their class?

Is anyone concerned about job loss and salary cuts for 2021-22 year? I’m unclear of why the district hasn’t saved some $ by placing district coordinators and vps with prop educ exp back into the classroom while this pandemic is occurring. I realize they would be taking a pay cut but when the 2021/22 year starts I don’t want to see districts cutting teachers. Most large school districts are top heavy anyway with4-5 vps in school sites in which we could do w/o not a necessity.

She can't seem to be able to file until she knows my SSN.
Any way to bypass that? Is it even relevant that we are married given that in the tax year she was earning income in the US while I wasn't?
