I’ve been in the mobile gaming industry for 8 years and broke into the US market 3 years ago. But my real dream has always been to work on a console or PC project, since I love larger-scale projects and more complex pipelines.
I’ve spent a lot of time studying 2D/3D, animation, development pipelines, tools, and more. The largest team I’ve managed was 50 people. Yet I feel hopeless—companies don’t even want to interview me. Any advice?

I am an associate at a UMM and my employment contract has a 4 month non compete (yes, even for associates) but I am thinking of lateraling. What are the implications of breaking a non compete? I didn’t say anything when I signed because I was desperate for a PE offer but it seems so unfair as I am just a lowly associate. I am not so much worried about getting sued, but about my current employer tanking my reputation if I leave and break the non compete.

I’ve been doing autocad design for 5 years now, and though it’s cool, it’s not what I want to do with my life. How can I break out of this and into game design? I find creating stories, monsters, characters, levels, maps, etc infinitely more interesting than utilities underground.

Sad to see it so quiet in here. 🥲 This and Confessions are like the only two bowls I'm interested in!
