I did this last year. I hated my boss but I had built a team that was amazing. Our performance was always above and beyond and we all had a great close relationship with each other. I left and transferred within the company because I just hated my boss. He was so unprofessional, mean, incompetent and would lie about my performance to his boss to gain more hours for the other managers team. That made me look bad when I had a several year record of outstanding work. So when I was applying for a promotion the place I could have gone was a disaster. One one hand I wanted it to get away from my boss but on the other I’d be leaving a great team that made work so easy. I took the promotion and it’s hard starting over again to build another great team and it takes so long but in the end I think it was worth it to grow. Im two positions above where I was last year and $30k more. Eventually your employees will leave you for a better opportunity or for something going on in life, so don’t stunt your career growth for them.
I say this with most respect and as a woman, but some personal experiences I’ve had working with all women were toxic as the drama, pettiness and horrible stereotypes make it worse than being the only woman in an all male department. At least the men were nice to my face!
