I'm a mechanical engineer working in design and development. I work on an automotive product, I have handled everything from concept development to series production release. I have a total of about 3 years experience, all 3 in this same role.

I'm considering doing my MTech, ideally in an IIT. Is it worth it? What kind of impact would I see on salary and jobs? What specialisations should I consider? Any other alternatives i should consider?

Ps: my current salary is about 9 LPA

With the various RTO rumors/fear out there and in the absence of spring/summer/fall(?) bonuses. Would you consider coming into the office more if your firm offered bonuses linked to days in the office (coupled with billable targets, of course)?

I've been a government attorney for nearly three years now and have worked in the same office/division since I passed the bar. I've yet to receive a promotion other than two cost of living increases (in sum, a pay increase of 6k over 3 years). Any idea about jobs in Bangalore for mechanical engineers?

Why is there such a huge pay difference between IT and Mechanical/auto industries? Many people in IT are getting 3xx salary hikes, but here I am struggling to get more that 20-30% hikes. Sure the skills are much more demand in IT field, but the discrepancy is too much. Is it due to most of the work are outsourced to consultancy/service based companies by the OEM? Or is there simply too much candidates available?
