Miralax. My dr said it's safe to use every day, pregnant or not. It's a tasteless stool softener and not a laxative. It was an absolute lifesaver! (Also, good luck!)
Same thing my doctor prescribed.
Don’t try to push too hard. You might get hemorrhoids which is worse than constipation!
Living that nightmare at the moment, but have had the fun of both this pregnancy. 🎉
Senekot is also safe. Such a lifesaver.
Fiber one bars work well if you need something more palatable. Just make sure you don't eat more than one a day. ;).
Natural Vitality Calm Powder. It’s a super absorbable magnesium citrate supplement that helps with constipation, leg cramps, relaxation. Other things I used sparingly were Colace and Miralax. With doc’s permission, I also changed my pre-natal to one without iron (getting it from food and non constipating supplements like Floradix instead.) if you are going to go the fiber supplement route (with bars or other things) be sure to drink a ton of water, otherwise you’ll just be worse off. Good luck!
I just got these but in the gummy form. More for the ability to alleviate anxiety. Didn’t realize it’s other benefits!
Miralax and starting the day by Drinking warm water and lemon worked for me
Salad! I ate salad every day during my pregnancy and never got constipated. Chicken Cesar was my craving so I ate as much as I wanted with a with avocado. Great healthy fats and protein as well.
I used Senekot, it really works!
I drank a ton of water everyday and the days I didn’t I had the worst constipation ever. Also drank high fiber smoothies every morning: apple, spinach, pineapple, banana, carrots, ginger, blueberries. I bought some of the fruit frozen or froze it myself and just added fresh fruit to it along with some nuts. Helped me get daily nutrients and helped with digestion. I didn’t do this with kid number 2 and I had awful painful constipation. I also notice my first born loves veggies while 2nd hates it and I attribute to drinking the smoothies everyday with first
Colace (or Dulcolax). I took it 3x a day at doc’s recommendation. At first I tried to avoid pills because I was eating plenty of greens but after no luck, I went for it and stayed with it until after delivery. Helped a lot. Also ate a ton of dried apricots and drank prune juice (like a shot, super cold). Good luck!
