Yes went off hormonal BC a few years ago (I'm married and it was mutually decided). I used NFP/charting and withdrawal to prevent successfully for several years. Then when we wanted to have a baby, I already knew my cycles and knew the exact days I was fertile.
Tracking your ovulation and pulling out and/or not allowing ejaculate in you around your ovulation time is fine. I've been doing it for 7 years and no incidents. You have to be regular and always count from the day your period started.
That would be me. Having my men simply pull out has worked for me since college.
A1 - playing with 🔥 lady!
Male interjecting here. But yeah wondering why no one has mentioned condoms? My wife can't do hormonal BC either but we've used condoms ever since we were dating
You guys are idiots. Pulling out is the LEAST effective form of birth control. Just get a fucking IUD or be prepared to abort.
Lol don't we all love the male birth control studies that stopped because men were showing symptoms of mood swings and acne?
The things we endure in order NOT to have an unwanted pregnancy. 😡😭
@Acc1, you ever consider having your men wear a condom?
Because condoms suck, for everyone.
Gf can't do BC. So always got a condom handy. So used to it by now.
Yes!
Copper IUD!
@M1 If they want to wear a condom, they can. I prefer no condom though.
Nice to know I'm not alone! Go FB FTW
For sure! Trust me, I spent years feeling bad about this bc nobody ever talks about it. I'm now 31 and have seen that this is much more common than people think. I actually think that NFP done right is intriguing for a lot of reasons. Since I'm in this bind, I hope to one day be able to implement it. It sounds like a good way to keep your body in balance and hopefully avoid fertility treatments, but we'll see. Good luck! You're ok!
A1 with you!
I'm married and relying on pull-out because of this. I've been too nervous to go ahead with copper IUD or any other option...
Mirena nearly wrecked my body. Had it removed last week. Doc ordered an ultrasound because the removal was so painful.
D1, yep they can! So can stress. A lot of things can affect ovulation, which is why it's really important to learn everything about it before relying on it as BC. If anyone is interested, the book "Taking Charge of Your Fertility" is a great resource for learning how to track ovulation to either prevent pregnancy or achieve pregnancy. For example like you were referring to, Mucinex encourages mucous production in the body in all areas. This means it causes more cervical mucous, which makes you MORE fertile. I took it during my ovulation window when trying to get pregnant and it helped 👍🏻
