Hi, not licensed in Florida but I am hoping this bowl can help me out. My old college friend filed a case in Miami pro se. I am not helping him out but he asked me how long he has to respond to the other party’s motion to dismiss. In my state our state civil procedures dictates a response time but it appears in Florida it doesn’t? The only info I can find is on the judge’s individual webpage’s that states a response has to be filed before the hearing date? Am I missing something?

Not missing anything. Best practice is usually to file with enough time to get the briefing in front of the judge before the hearing (1-2 weeks is a good rule of thumb depending on how far out that hearing is).

Thank you. I’ll pass that info along!

What county? It’s it a motion practice county (like pinellas)? If it’s not a motion practice county, typically just 10 days before the date of the hearing

Recent lateral junior associate in brand new practice where I'm the only associate. I'm probably going to bill 1,500 hours max this year due to being very slow and taking time off for a delayed honeymoon which I disclosed during my interview process. I have been told my work product is good, I don't turn anything down, I participate in non-billable work, I'm responsive and I always let people know I'm available to help. Do I need to be worried about getting fired for low hours?

Would you say Austin’s real estate market will go through a correction in 2022? I am considering there in a few months (wife and 3 kids) from a normal-priced city. While we can afford a house there, I am scared of getting into an extremely risky investment seeing such fast growing prices in 2021. I’ve read both bull and bear scenarios online and I’d like to get some “Bowl’s” thoughts. Thanks!

I'd settle for insurance work if theres good WLB & $$$ lol

I want to one day have my own firm. Trying to think outside the box on how to get the experience w/o being in big law for ten years.

Thinking of applying to be an ASA and to the FL AGO. Would like trial experience or civil rights/con law work.

Thoughts appreciated!
