I totally get the struggle, this market is harder than normal.. For me, I found success through networking. I connected with people on LinkedIn and attended virtual meetups for my field. Referrals can make a big difference, so don’t be afraid to ask for them. Keep pushing, and keep your focus on what you really want to do!
I wish there was a magic formula I could give you to secure a job! Truth is, what paid off for me was to just keep trying, and trying, and then try some more. I made sure my resume was up to date and considered decent. Stay persistent and try to stay as positive as you can! I know it is NOT easy out there.
Temp to perm roles can help you get into a permanent role. I would go and get the top staffing firms of wherever you are (example: Forbes publishes a top staffing firm survey you can go through and apply to their website or look them up on LinkedIn or Glassdoor: https://www.forbes.com/lists/best-temp-staffing-firms/). That way if you get temporary assignments, you still have work history, reduce gaps, and keep using your skills to remain marketable. And many of these firms do have temp to perm placements.
Right now is such a tough time to find a job. Honestly the best thing you can do is network and try to get referrals. I was able to get a referral from a friend and that was how I secured the role that I have now.
