How are other pharma companies handling WFH / Remote work policies? I have heard Pfizer and Eli Lilly have made their WFH policies pretty restrictive. I assume it only has to do what is happening in the political space with RFK Jr.'s nomination and Trump ending WFH for the Federal Government. Thoughts?

Loads of Pharma companies are facing huge patent cliffs in upcoming years, and very few have anything to backfill that void. Pfizer looses market exclusivity for Eliquis in 2026 (a drug that brought in $12.2 billion in 2023), Lily looses Trulicity (7.1billion in 2023), Merck looses both Keytruda ($25billion in 2023) and Gardasil ($8.9 billion in 2023) in 2028. Salaries are the top biggest cost to Pharma. So to make up for this, there is a LOT of outsourcing happening to India and China, and sometimes LATAM. Couple this with a new influx of former FDA/ NIH employees to the market (who have incredible skill but were making much less than typical Pharma employees), the cuts to research funding at major US universities and hospitals as well as the cuts to NIH (which Pharma companies partner with and then help develop) and the anti-medication/ vaccine messaging coming under RFK Jr, and I will tell you that WFH is likely just a way they’re trying to encourage employees to leave. Minimally it’s going to be a rough rough few years. And I worry that the US will no longer be recognized for their incredible research, development and products anymore. Who’s going to step in for global needs? I mean, how are drugs even getting approved or our facilities inspected and approved in the US moving forward? What’s going to happen to PDUFA? It’s worrisome, to say the least.

Wondering what people think about my situation. I’ve been offered a role with a company. The job description didn’t mention college degree as a requirement. On my CV I have a section listed as “Education” and under it I have “Business Studies” with the university name and the 3 years that I attended the course (2.5 to be exact). It’s a 4 year degree and under this I have my High School equivalent with the years I attended there. The education wasn’t mentioned in the interviews. Continued below.

currently tossing up between staying at a global company (who is in the process of some positive changes) with an amazing manager who supports my career and flexible working … however comes with the inherit issues that come with a long standing global company

compared with a role at a smaller mga, higher salary (around 30%) more , more visibility career wise and some great employee benefits , management seem to be supportive and low staff turnover

I accepted a $115K base salary, 13% bonus, 10k sign on bonus (scientist supervisor) job and two weeks later, got a $135K base, 17% bonus, and 15K sign on bonus (Senior scientist role) offer from another company. Should I accept the new offer ? How do I tell the previous company about this? Also, I’ve already negotiated with the first company and the $115K base is the negotiated salary. I really do not prefer one company over the other. They’re both great! I’m very confused here. TIA🙏

What are your thoughts of switching jobs in the beginning of this recession? Would you stay if you had seniority? Current company’s a start up that has 18 months of run way but budgets are tight for next year. Acquired tons of sites and has 3000 employees. Thinking of leaving for smaller pharmas.
