I would email their HR/recruiter or whoever sent you their background info and say “I didn’t see a minimum education requirement on the job description. Can you confirm if there is one?” See what they say and go from there. I know some companies that verify education but HS is still okay as highest attained. I also wouldn’t give notice until the background clears.
We’ve gone to the offer, acceptance and contract been signed already stage and now after contracts are signed the background check comes by email. I’ve put highest attained as HS into the background check form so I didn’t lie there either.
It seems like you have been as truthful as you could be. I wouldn't worry about it too much.
Any of the 4 interviews or 4 different people didn’t ask about college and it never came up that I didn’t finish my course. I didn’t say “Bachelor of Business Studies” on my CV, it just says business studies and there’s no grades there.
I’ve got forms to fill in for an ESR background check and they’ve asked me for my highest education. I’ve put in my high school but the manager to be mentioned the employment/academic check to be a burden but a necessary one.
Should I be expecting them to be surprised that I didn’t compete Uni? Had they asked anything about college (16 years ago of a start date) I’d have just told them my reason for moving on, but nobody asked. I haven’t handed in my notice to my current employer yet, because I’m worried that this new company will withdraw the offer, even though we’ve both signed contracts. Any Advice?
The course name is Bachelor of Business Studies though, so just went with Business Studies as the education cause that’s essentially what the course was called.
So an update to this thread. I contacted the hiring manager and said I wanted to double check something around the education aspect and make clear that he knew exactly what the story was with it so there was no ambiguity. That if it cost me the role it cost me the role, but that I couldn’t start a working relationship from an incorrect standpoint.
He replied and told me not to worry, all was in order and that it didn’t matter, that they were happy with the offer standing.
That's an awesome update, congrats OP! Hope this new job is amazing
