What are the best ways of tax exemption
Anyone from Boston Consulting Group Boston Consulting Group (BCG) working in non-consulting - Technology/Engineering/Global Services?
How's the work life balance? Glassdoor reviews are full of "long working hours" and hence wanted to know if it's the same with non-consulting folks as well?
How far is it true across the organisation?
Please help me shed some light to decide.
Thanks.

S&C buttholes are quite clenched but I find most of them to be very nice and smart people
To say S&C is “not a particularly political firm” is perhaps the most outrageous statement I’ve heard all year lmao Have you not done a basic google search or read the news over the past 10 months?
As a recruiter focused on diversity, I’ve talked to many a POC at S&C and those who have lateraled out. I’ve also talked to people at every other firm in the AmLaw 100 with a specific focus on the V20 so I know very well what is normal big law bs and what is an outlier situation. S&C is very much an outlier over the past year. If you have other options in the same tier, I would recommend going elsewhere. If not and you want to maximize your options to lateral out I don’t think there’s anything wrong with starting your career there for a few years then leaving so long as you know what you’re getting into. Make sure you have mentors and allies if you choose to go there and you will be ok.
As a minority at S&C - I fully believe this
Thank you to both of you for sharing this.
I’m so sorry you’re dealing with this. I hope you are able to exit soon.
As a POC at the firm, I’d put it like this. S&C is a world class sociopath/narcissist. the firm is convinced (and for good reason bc clients) that good work can excuse an opaque culture, poor diversity (and don’t get me started on the rationale behind the hiring stats that basically penalizes anyone that, in short, doesn’t come from an extremely polished background) and hypocrisy in when and how they take stances publicly (when Roe was overturned, sent the most lackluster email that basically pissed off most the women at the firm v. taking a more aggressive stance on an issue that won’t age well).
unfortunately the firm will never pay for it and they’ll never change, clients love them and they do great work. people internally seem happy but that’s because there’s quite literally not enough POC/minority voices for them to see it’s a problem. basically, it’s on the associate to leave by year 5 (and some sooner) versus hoping for any change because frankly, and to put a bow on this, S&C DOES NOT CARE
Yeah they're like the awkward kid on the boat that won't go swimming because they don't want to take their shirt off but they're still wearing the shoes
I think the only reason for making such a public announcement about the law student hiring policy was to deter law students from attending the protests and chill political speech. The vast majority of protestors were not calling for anything antisemitic - they are protesting against the thousands of dead children in Gaza who Israel won’t even let flee. They could have the same policy privately, but they chose to make it public.
It’s really disgusting and un-American in my view. What people protest about in their free time has nothing to do with the workplace. And I bet they can’t point to a single incident of antisemitism in the office.
I don’t think A11 works here, and I don’t think they have read the articles about the protestor ban
Think they were pretty proud of cleansing the ranks due to political opinions
Wasn’t there a NYT article about this recently?
Yes. It noted that “The policy shows how businesses are trying to influence the behavior of people they cannot hope to directly control for several more years, said Roderick A. Ferguson, a Yale professor of American studies who has researched universities’ responses to student movements.“
Nightmarish stuff that has no place in a democratic society.
Can someone share more? Is it just over Israel-Palestine, or do they try to get rid of people with generally liberal/left-leaning views? Is the firm politically conservative in general?
That will get you hired at Jones Day.
Although I can’t speak for everyone’s experience, as an associate at S&C I find the culture to be collegial. It is not a particularly political firm—most people do not discuss politics in the office because we recognize colleagues and clients have diverse views—but it is a New York-based firm and the majority of the people I work with are Democrats (based on out-of-office discussions). It is a place where people work hard, but there is very much so a “we are in this together” mentality. And the hiring policy, which is not a policy designed to push out current associates, is specific to law students who have engaged in “antisemitism.” The policy also applies to students who engage in “anti-black, “anti-Hispanic,” and “anti-LGBTQ” conduct. I would hope such a policy is not very controversial; does anyone really want a work environment where their colleagues have engaged in acts of hatred based on race, ethnicity, religion, or orientation?
Okay but MSM wants to fill you with hate. You should be in jail already for just reading NYT. Would anyone else like to be in jail?
For example?
