I felt the same way before I left my last job. I realized that no amount of comfort could replace the lack of growth or new challenges. It’s tough, but sometimes staying stuck in a comfortable rut holds you back more than the risk of change. I weighed my long-term goals and knew I had to move forward.
It depends on what YOU want. Either option is fine
What can happen sometimes is you just get pigeonholed, and the people you work for will only ever see you as being in the position you currently occupy. And things can go on and be comfortable, but I agree with you that it can be like you're missing opportunities elsewhere. If you feel like the road ahead of you is just blocked where you are, start putting out feelers and see what else is available. Well I guess it depends on. Are you receiving lots of benefits that a lot of other companies do not offer? For example: 401k matching; bonuses; free lunch; discount tpasses, etc. if so, then maybe think about staying.
