How do we feel about corporate meddling with every single choice our local logistics branch makes? Part of our contract specifies autonomy by the manager, yet they seem to have forgotten about this entirely!

This type of business does not prosper because everything must be approved by a single person. A person who has accumulated so many obligations for himself that he will never have time to attend to all matters with agility.

I suggest that you talk to them and ask them for clarity on what is the limit of your autonomy. Then you can decide if that works for you or if you prefer to seek an environment with more freedom to make decisions.

How we feel about it.. hmm let me see. Infuriated? Yeah, that's what I imagine! Seriously, sometimes I wonder how people get anything done with corporate making decisions from afar without knowing how they affect us at the ground level. Try to find someone who could be sympathetic to your plight that has to work with the boss more directly (like if they have an executive assistant), gentle pressure tends to be more effective at times because you can get the boss to think it was their own idea all along :)

I work in a firm that is known for litigation defense. I’ve been developing my own plaintiffs practice as well. I am able to pay the bills with my hourly defense work, which gives me time to focus on a handful of high value PI case a year on contingency. I was recently negotiating a case and was told part of the reason the claims rep/OC was jerking me around was because they didn’t see me as a plaintiffs attorney. Is there any way to change this perception or does it just come over time?

I have 32k miles with THY that are about to expire. Normally I'd go ahead and book a flight, but I can't project which countries might be locked down again 5-6 months from now (haven't accrued enough PTO to travel in near future). The only other way to keep the miles is to pay $10 per 1000 miles, as far as I know. Are there other strategies?

I feel under qualified at work but I also don’t know how much of it is in my head or in reality. I head a team and they seem to be happy… but I’m also personally not satisfied what we’re delivering is enough… so I have this weird mixed feeling of the stuff we’re doing not really being that stretching, but at the same time I feel out of my depth. I really don’t know what to do and whether to hold on in the hope I’ll learn something or go back to a lower grade and a more comfortable life.

I started a new job a couple months ago and am not happy. As I’m trying to get clear about what I want I’ve realized my happiest place is brand positioning / voice definition work. Is that still a thing primarily handled by big, coastal agencies? Any tips on how to find brand-centric roles like that?

Additional Posts in Logistics & Supply Chain Management

It’s very discouraging to continuously receive these rejection emails. With 9 years of supply chain experience, I am not sure why I would not be able to at least get an interview for entry level roles that require no experience. Not just this one pictured but others as well. I’ve applied to maybe 60 positions since May, both mid level and “entry” and no interviews. I’ve had my resume professionally re-written twice. Not sure where the disconnect is. Anyone else going through this same thing?
