It’s very discouraging to continuously receive these rejection emails. With 9 years of supply chain experience, I am not sure why I would not be able to at least get an interview for entry level roles that require no experience. Not just this one pictured but others as well. I’ve applied to maybe 60 positions since May, both mid level and “entry” and no interviews. I’ve had my resume professionally re-written twice. Not sure where the disconnect is. Anyone else going through this same thing?

Honestly, if I see someone has manager level experience and I’m hiring for entry level, I won’t interview because they probably want more than I’m budgeted for. It won’t result in a hire so why waste everyone’s time?

I went through the same thing. I think it’s about quantity of applications you put in. We don’t know what goes into the hiring decisions, and if a company is good, they likely have an internal candidate that is being considered or in line. Then there are postings that stay up just because they want a pool of resumes to reach out to when they need someone. Just keep applying. Apply everywhere. Take all interviews. You’ll find the job you’re looking for, maybe not even something you were expecting. I laughed out loud and found it so refreshingly honest when a company sent an email back, and the subject line was “rejection letter”. Felt like it was about darned time.

like

Ha! Honestly, I'd rather have that kind of honesty that some long-winded, pleasant explanation about why you wasted your time applying

Hello friend, I went through the same thing, I was 1 year without being able to get anything in the supply chain, and a job coach advised me to hire a LinkedIn resume and profile optimization service, and voila, in less than a month I had 3 interviews. Have you tried using this kind of service? Don't give up, I wish you luck.

Not the original commenter but the service they were referring to is LinkedIn and resume writing. Agencies and freelancers both offer this service. Here's some examples from Upwork: https://www.upwork.com/ab/profiles/search/?q=resume%20&user_pref=2

Sorry to hear you've been struggling so much to find a role, sadly that's often the reality of job search and you're probably going to send an absurd amount of applications before landing something

I’m graduating in December, with a background in environmental economics and policy. Consulting didn’t work out this cycle. What can I do to make this happen? I have friends and connections at Bain and Kearney and the other firms as well, but not sure if it’s feasible now.

McKinsey referral system glitch?

I got a referral from an EM over a month ago. He says my candidate status showed "turned down" immediately following the submission. I have an interview for an in house position (only attorney) at a small non-profit focused on conservation easements. I am a transactional associate at a mid sized law firm. The prospect of freedom from the billable hour and contributing to meaningful work are the draws. The cons are that while the salary at the non-profit would only be slightly less than what I am making now, pay increases and opportunities for advancement will be much less than where I am now. Thoughts on making the shift?
