Nope no way. Some positions could be remote but when there is equipment, yards, and people's safety involved, this is an in-person, in-office, on-site industry.
With current software being more customizable for our needs I believe with an experienced staff this can be done. The challenge would be the onboarding and training of new employees. I believe that is the only weak point in being 100% remote.
Depends on the scope of your role.
I am a supply chain analyst and I work remotely, but it is impossible to work remotely.
Yes, but I think we're still quite a ways off from automating the entire process to the point where everything can be managed from a computer from anywhere
Eh depends, some stuff will always have to be done in person like inspecting inventory, meeting with people, scoping faciltiies
It's very role-specific. There are some jobs that can operate completely remote without issue. However, there will always (at least in our lifetime) need to be people on the ground, and people overseeing their safety.
Many businesses now use cloud-based systems to store data securely and access it remotely, enabling them to collaborate with partners and suppliers simultaneously. But it depends of your role and responsabilities.
Technology has grown by leaps and bounds over the past few years, allowing us to access data quickly and efficiently. It's also given us the ability to collaborate with team members across multiple time zones without too much difficulty.
