How do you feel about being asked to train the new employee?

As long as my work is accounted for and other workload is taken off my plate, I might be ok. Otherwise, I'm not ok unless I get paid more.

You raise a good point - I do think it’s additional work that should be compensated for but it seems more like an expectation usually that you should do

Lol this meme is hilarious, but I actually don't mind it. It's an opportunity to get to know the new hire. The only time that it's frustrating for me is when I'm super busy already.

lol right? I remember when I was that bright eyed bear 😂

It can get really tedious sometimes but my work gets easier when the person is a fast learner and open to feedback.

That is very true!

I'm always willing to train a new hire. It's just my way of giving back for the trainings that I received from more tenured colleagues.

From experience, it was always nice to be trained by someone who wanted to!

I survived a terrorist attack in the past (not 9/11 but conversations about 9/11 always remind me about it). The weird thing is how neutral the memories are, it’s just a thing that happened. I know many survivors deal with mental health repercussions and the fact that I was just happy to be alive makes me feel like some kind of sociopath.

I have an MHA and 4 years of management experience. I’m currently a manager, but seeking a director level position. Any advice for trying to temper my expectations? I feel like all director level positions have 5 years in the posting, but a lot of my peers with the same experience are already in director level positions. Are they just lucky? Am I jumping the gun? Do I just need to stick it out?

Does anyone here work fully remotely? If so, how did you find your position, and did you have to sacrifice or compromise on anything - including salary?

I have a new employee that started last Monday, unfortunately it’s not going to work out. Long story, but we’re fairly certain the individual is using Meth and appears to have started/restarted fairly recently. I work with physicians, so it’s a consensus. We have to terminate employment, but what ethical obligation do we have? Two young children at home and no spouse. This is weighing heavily on us.
