How do you feel about homework? What kinds of homework do you assign? How do you respond when students don’t work in class but the parent complains about too much homework?

I explain what the parents should expect at the beginning of the year. If students have more minutes to do at home, then parents know that it is because they didn't finish in school. It is infrequent that they have a little bit more, but sometimes certain things take some kids longer and other things they do more quickly.

I typically do not give homework but it doesn’t mean students won’t have any. I explain in a letter at the beginning of the year my expectations of work time in class and the only reason a student would have homework is if they are not used time efficiently. If I notice this seams to be a problem for a certain student I reach out to parents to make them aware what is happening in the class to cause the homework issue. I find the sooner I reach out the faster the problem gets resolved. Another way I have solved the issue is keeping the student after to work one on one. Just depends on what the under lying issue is.

I blame the parents for their chikd not doing well in school
