My district is intergrade already
We integrated a few years back. I like it because each year grows on the next. Stanford put out a good resource called SCALE that I recommend reviewing. Inquiry based units that tie neatly together.
I am so late to respond! A couple years ago, my school revamped our middle school courses - Next year we introduce the new 8th grade. Michigan is an NGSS state & our version is grouped by topic. The order are my notes, not how the classes are actually organized.
6th grade: matter & energy in organisms & ecosystems; interdependent relationships in ecosystems; energy; structure & properties of matter; & space systems
7th grade: structure, function, & information processing; chemical reactions; forces & interactions; history of earth; & earth's systems
8th grade: growth, development, & reproduction of organisms; natural selection & adaptations; weather & climate; human impacts; & waves & electromagnetic radiation
We integrate across 6-8 grades. We follow states standards and use Science Fusion as our “textbook”. Students can write in these books as well as have access to online resources. We also opted to purchase a district subscription to e-Learning’s Gizmos(online virtual labs) which is really helpful to use with the class or as an alternative for quarantine students.
We do that in TN. I do NOT recommend it. I wish we taught a curriculum like yours.
