How do you feel about Networking Events? I have been to quite a few in the past couple years but nothing has ever materialized in a positive direction. I am not sure if I am doing something wrong or most of these networking events are just company marketing opportunities.

Is there any stigma to saying no to an offer without another in hand? I landed an off-cycle offer at a decent fund but after thinking through, want to take a shot at some of my other funds as well

Are ppl worried about being on the bench esp when there aren’t a lot of projects in the pipeline? New hire here about to be up for staffing for the first time and sentiment at my firm seems to be worried/fearful about being unstaffed. Is it actually worrisome to be on the bench in this environment or is this just a product of highly ambitious over achievers worrying about not being constantly utilized?

Anyone have any friends who successfully pivoted out of advertising? I know a handful of people who are half-trying to, but I can’t think of anyone who has made a clean break, on their own terms, into something that appears to be making them feel more fulfilled than they were in the ad biz. I am in a tech IC position. One of friends switched to FAANG by converting the profile to consultant profile. The friend who might have less tech knowledge than me is now in FAANG and earning more. If the end goal would be that the friend might one day be a product manager and me an engineering manager taking instructions from the same friend, isn't consultant profile an easier path to growth. I had been practising DSA for years and the competition is only ever growing.

I received an offer for 80k to work as a desktop engineer for TCS at one of their client’s locations.
