How do you find what you're good at? I get good performance reviews at work but I don't think I'm actually good at anything. I cannot build or fix anything :/ I look at job descriptions and I don't meet the requirements.

Almost no one truly meets a jobs requirements. That’s the secret no one tells you. And anyone who does is just good at verbally fitting a square peg in a round hole.

It takes time to figure that out. I struggled a long time in finance before moving into nonprofit leadership in 2006. Think strategically. Pay attention to what interests you. Look at trends to see future opportunities. It takes time.

Get out sooner rather than later from Consulting in this case. I had a lot of the same fears, and it all boiled down to the fact that I was an advisor and not actually executing on the ideas I was providing. At a certain point, I couldn’t take myself seriously anymore. Getting a job in the industry and actually seeing through some initiatives will help you build your confidence

Anyone leave before their bonus (before knowing what the amount was) and then regret it when it turned out to be a huge bonus? Got a great offer that I want to take but feeling FOMO by leaving the bonus on the table.

And yes, I tried moving the start date and asking them to cover the lost bonus but they said no and it’s still a better offer and it would be irresponsible not to take it.

Does anyone become more jaded towards their company / being in consulting by being on this app / seeing what is posted in their company bowl? I feel like this is the place to talk about things we typically wouldn’t talk about in the larger workplace setting (which is great, don’t get me wrong), but can’t help but feel that this app definitely helps me see the ugly side (more so than the nice side) of consulting.
