MBB folks: where would you exit & maintain comp? Thinking of moving out of California. Love CHI but worried there’s only a couple really great gigs in town, which puts NYC back on the table.
Ended up owing $700 tax.. nothing much to file just w-2 numbers and that were it - used turboCurrently putting 6% to meet company match, would putting more into 401k avoid owing tax at the year-end?
Exit opps after completing the BAP? Trying to go to a 2nd tier strategy firm. Typical for people to make that jump?
Just got fired from RSM. I have a final interview tomorrow, do I have to disclose this information to my new employer?
How do you figure out what % of your paycheck is the max you can contribute in 401K without exceeding limits? $106K is the annual pay

Recently got approached by a Natural Language Processing (NLP) company for a sales engineer position. What is everyone’s opinion on the viability of this area in machine learning? Any legs or strong prospects?
Interviewing for Deloitte S&A consultant. Currently at small boutique and overwhelmed at the work possibilities within that group. Do you agree to a practice line within it if hired? Or is it even determined during the interview process? Thank you.
So what kind of roles do managers go to that seniors can’t go to? As a manager, I’m getting manager of accounting interviews. Why is it worth staying an extra year and a half to be manager? What other roles open up?
When in the interview process do you ask the team the expected work hours? Also, how would you ask it?
Hi guys! Just got told at 5pm this evening that I will have an 8am interview tomorrow morning. This is for a Senior Manager position. The interview reads as focus interview, the recruiter is telling me that this is a case interview. Can someone confirm if focus = case interview? Thanks much
Anyone go back part time after maternity leave in big law? I have the option but I don’t understand how it would work. Don’t want a paycut if I’m inevitably going to work similar hours rather than just trying to take on a little less work.
I am planning to move back to India. What is the best way to deal with 401k? Should I withdraw?
I’m bad at interviewing bc I can’t look at charts and come up with insights on the spot (it takes me a few minutes to process). But that doesn’t mean I’m bad at critical thinking. I feel like the interview process for MBB is flawed
Hiring question: candidates today are requiring very high salaries and we are getting to a point where the average candidate for a particular role is asking for more than I make. I just got promoted and got a 9% increase, which I’m not terribly happy with. Now that I am trying to backfill with this new level of salary and I want to use this opportunity to go back to my boss to get an bigger increase. Any advice or thoughts?
Laid off but left a creative team that was 60% poc. Loved how the camaraderie and support made me more comfortable and productive. Any agencies with a similar community hiring mid-level designers?
Docker for Desktop is not free anymore. Thoughts? Will your project / firm replace it? And if you replace it, what are your plans?
Any consulting firms that actually train their employees? I came from WM industry so consulting was a bit of a culture shock and i wish my company had invested time into training me so I’d be a better consultant. Hoping to make a move elsewhere to a company that spends a few weeks mentoring before putting you on a project.
From one HR to the other - what do we think about the level of diversity shown in this vid released by my employer earlier today? I think they‘ve done a nice job trying to feature a good mix but might‘ve actually „overdone“ it? Might be cause I’m used to male-only engineering lol https://www.linkedin.com/feed/update/urn:li:activity:6871427562401275904
would it be perceived badly if I would go to another firm only after one year of working here? The new position would pay 25-30% more than the current one.
Ex-bankers at Google: what role are you in?
Rough day. Luckily I’m WFH, but my client is insane and has caused me severe stress to the point where I’m just crying it out. Rolling off soon, but this sucks. How can I not let it impact me?
What questions would be helpful to ask in-house attorneys, even if a little personal, to determine whether in-house would be a good fit? As background, I am thinking about leaving my firm. I like the firm but dislike the hours and I am realizing that it only gets worse (late bloomer, I know). My mentor suggested that I do a little more homework by using an org I am in to make sure the change will be an improvement and to know what to ask for in interviews if I decide to start looking around.
Do you guys see more career potential as a marketer to grow as a marketing analyst (in the big 4 corporation) or specializing in fully marketplace advertising(think amazon, wayfair, ebay)?
Saw a post recently about wlb being worse at a startup than consulting. Interviewing with an unicorn which is expected to ipo in may be 5 years. So trying to get an idea of what the consensus is based on folks who have already left. Role is semi-technical- solution architect.
Me @ client site: can't wait to be home for the weekend and escape all this work bs. Me @ home: I'm too tired, stays indoors...forever alone
I love watches, think they’re beautiful. But I can’t bring myself to splurge on a big purchase. Bonus coming in Jan - should I do it? And what’s a good piece to start with. The watch maker I absolutely love - A. Lange Sohn, but way out of reach; IWC, Jaeger, Chopard and Glashute - all appealing. Also, spend on watches or invest? Guidance requested. Thanks in advance.
Stock market looking great. Unemployment numbers improving already with so many states still waiting to open. Hope we can rebuild our great economy and bring it back to pre-covid numbers soon🙏
Client wants to claim nanny expenses from 2020 on Sch H but did not withhold any of the payroll taxes or issue a W-2 (seems to have been a cash deal). What is the proper treatment on the client (employer) 1040? Claim the full amount as if they did withhold and somehow get that money from the nannies? Only claim employer half and assume the nannies are claiming on their 1040?
