What are things I can do to prepare now in order to have a strong application? Background: I’m aiming for HSW, M7, and top 15. I’m currently a Staff at EY within Business Consulting. I graduated from a Top 25 Business Undergrad - majoring in Finance and minor in Advertising with a 3.71 GPA. I want to pivot towards PM or Corporate Strategy in Tech, at Toyota, or Nike. TIA!

Just hoping PowerPoint animations become really really big. I’ve been wanting to use a dancing Chewbacca on a slide for a long time but keep getting vetoed
Really depends on the firm you are working, but yeah everyone knows the industry is moving generally downstream as clients expect more implementation and less pure strategy. If you are not in MBB or T2, I think this downstream change will be more prominent, but you can see even MBB working to incorporate more architecture to provide implementation than they ever used to. Ie, Bain has Vector, etc.
It will be tech. Build deep and core technical skills and get into poly cloud implementations. Consulting companies should provide trainings ahead of deploying resources at the client than expecting them to learn on the job while acting as experts with out knowing much. working 50-60 hours a week will not leave much room for self-study as well. Not a justice for what is being charged for the clients.
What tech skills would you prioritize?
I would suggest getting expertise in at least one of the 3 major cloud platform providers, AWS, Azure and GCP. I, having Data and Analytics background, started my journey with AWS Cloud set of tools/technologies and Snowflake(DBaaS). Try to get couple certifications so that you know the fundamentals. However, getting certification is like knowing the path, hands on or project work is like walking the path.
Strategy is going away. Get hands on experience; implementation, scripting etc
It will be all tech and Rpa will be huge
I’m in tech. I don’t love it. But it is the future.
