How do you improve your presentation skills? I know I'm awkward when the spotlight is on me, whether it's in a meeting or presenting something, but I don't know where to start.

First — you are not alone. I can’t think of anyone, even as a seasoned presenter, that either has butter flies, or fumbles a press every so often. This leads into the next point ..

As the old joke goes — “How do you get to Carnegie Hall… practice, practice, practice..” — practice your pitch, know your content, be confident that you know your material.

The next point is critical to what I have seen as the basis for many a presentation — you are telling a story. Make it interesting. The “slide ware” should only be a prompt for the next points you want to talk to. There may be a slide or two that expresses a dense topic — and that’s ok. Just DONT READ THE CONTENT OFF THE SLIDES. It is not uncommon for “dry runs” to be made on stage prior to anyone in the audience so that your presentation is fluid and relevant.

If you can talk about the content of the presentation to a friend in a bar (over food, whatever) and have a good conversation about it, you’re probably on the right track.

Lastly — get to know who your audience is. Make the presentation relevant to them. Too many times we try to present content where we spout off our expertise without fully understanding the client needs.

Give the presentation to peers that are friendly and will give you feedback — then listen to it.

Hang in there my friend. I’m a senior partner in a leadership role. To this day I walk away from two out of five presentations feeling that way. Do everything C1 above said - but in the end, know the value you bring and learn to get comfortable in your skin. Good luck.

I’ve always thought practice and simplicity is the key. When you’re confident in the subject and you’ve repeated it to yourself a lot it’ll come across naturally.

I generally find the more I know about the topic in which I’m speaking about, the more prepared and less nervous I feel when giving a presentation. My best advice would be to research as much as possible to make sure you know your presentation inside and our. I’d also think of a list of possible questions you could be asked about your presentations by your colleagues so you can prepare some answers. Good luck and I hope this helps! Feel free to dm me for more advice!

Hi! I am seeking for an advise, anything helps! I applied to Accenture’s entry level analyst program. I applied a few days ago (I know it’s a bit late, but the application is still open thankfully). Yesterday, I joined a resume workshop w/ an Accenture recruiter. She went through my resume and said that I have a strong one! I’ve also set up a coffee chat w/ her next week. Unfortunately, I got an email today from the system, they decided not to move forward :( Should I reach out to her abt this?

Why do leaders keep comparing how “good”the new staff/seniors have it because they make more money starting out then they did and working 55 hours is better than the 70-80 hours they used to work? Instead they should compare what options they have available to them and what their goals are.

Anyone know a good content production and copywriting house/agency?

Does your practice rely on outsourced teams?

Accenture employs 700,000+, Deloitte has 400,000+, EY/PWC/KPMG are all 250,000+. How can you not feel like just another employee ID #?

So what are some of the best boutique consultancies (with at least some scale, so let's say 250+ consultants) where you can feel like you actually make a difference? And the firms get the same level of respect as their larger counterparts?
