I’m the definition of chinese working culture. 996.

I’m about to start an internship at IBM for UX Research. I’m super excited about it, and was wondering if anyone could tell me about the design culture there or how the company is for designers? So far online I’ve only heard about the company from consultants or software engineers. For more reference I’ll be working in Austin.

“At the start of 2020, more desperate for relevance than ever before...”
Hard to not read “youth positive culture” as ageist
Somehow we live in the times where “OK Boomer” is a youth-positive culture. #bebest
...bigger margins than ever before, buoyed by a cheap workforce of entry-level people.
Gird your loins. My agency used that language and then "laid off" the oldest people in the company. The oldest person is now 42.
😞
“Youth-positive culture” rubs me the wrong way.
How about: At the outset (okay, we’ve missed this boat for the last decade and change, but never mind) better aligned (well, we couldn’t be less aligned, could we?), buoyed (as opposed to what, sunk?), by a youth-positive culture (hi there, anyone out there interested in an age discrimination lawsuit?). Sound reasonable?
Out with the old in with the new.
Is it 1968? “Youthquake”. Meaningless drivel
“We need to slash some salaries."
Who here HASN'T always thought this was a young person's industry when they first got into it?
I interpret it this way: “I have no idea what to say, so I’m going to spout a bunch of currently popular corporate bullshit in a desperate effort to sound relevant and hope no one notices how pathetic I really am.”
