I would actually recommend NOT listening to words, but looking at actions and whether those actions are consistent over time. There are plenty of men willing to promise you the world early on without actually meaning it. Or maybe meaning it in the moment, but not having the capacity to live up to those words.
That being said… girl, are you sure you want to be doing this? I feel like approaching dating from this angle has the potential to end very poorly.

Jk. Honestly, probably the same way anyone does—have the conversation early. The right guy won’t hesitate if he knows what matters to you. Trust your instincts, set the right expectations, and stick to your plans.
I think the question should be, how do you ensure YOU want the guy to be a father figure?
You can ask, but also, you need to look for consistency over time. You won’t know a man’s true nature until months into a relationship
