I really feel like I should be excused from this "diversity and inclusiveness" training stuff lmao. It's about implicit bias and I'm sorry it's just not believable coming from an old white man's mouth when there are maybe 4 non-white associates. We're having these meetings 3 times this week. 🤦🏽‍♀️

I know a few wise old white men who I would trust to lead a training like this. However, it would be much more impactful if POC were included in the planning & implementation of the meetings.

I wonder what he'd say if you asked if you could help him with the training....

Most of my professors in undergrad were Caucasian, and they taught fundamental courses related to Race, Gender and Class. I wouldn’t be quick to judge..

Why should there even be a training for that? But he deserves a benefit of the doubt, shouldn't he? Give it a shot and see where that will take you.

Looks like they just killed the purpose. Including a few POC would be very much appreciated. Have you attended any? I would really want to know how it went.

Did you ever give it a chance? But I must say, 3 meetings in a week for that is kinda too much.

Do NOT claim you are "colorblind" in the workplace. 1. DE&I knowledge is now a core leadership competency. Colorblind claims will earn you the reputation of being DEI-ignorant at best & racist at worst. 2. Colorblindness within the context of workplace diversity is an obvious lie. You do NOT want to be painted as an intellectually dishonest leader. 3. Colorblind claims signal that you lack the leadership skills & vocabulary to have key conversations. Ask questions here, in this safe space.

I am frustrated as a Gay Woman who has given her all for 30+ years grinding to be the best. I have been in closet, out of closet, in-between and am tired of it. I want to be VALUED as a human being. I have gone from Rock Star to problem when people "found out". I have trained and promoted hundreds of people and been passed over for promotions because of not being a man. I have trained men with less experience, worse results only for them to move forward. If Diversity is important...prove it!

Accountability correlates with Responsibility in this way: When a person accepts personal responsibility for how his/her actions and decisions impact and influence the lives of others, said person holds him-/herself accountable and accepts being accountable to others for the equity and inclusion (or lack thereof) in their spheres of influence.

This diversity thing is almost a joke....seriously. A lady says her goal is to focus on promoting women and she is celebrated. What if a man said the same thing regarding men....? where is fairness?

Hello! It seems this bowl is not very active but I'd like it to be. So here's my story: Born & raised in PR, moved to CA for undergrad & have been here since then. I graduated from law school in 2019, followed by a 2 yr bk clerkship. I did the evening program. I really enjoyed law school, in spite of the microaggressions, the late nights, & crazy competition. Love all things diversity in the law. Anyway, currently looking for a position in NYC/DC area. 🤗

Why are town Hall meetings so impersonal? They are all about awards / the number of people hired. I know FCB health is large, but we never hear from people who aren’t Executives. Last town hall, when discussing inclusion efforts, there were no people of color represented and one of the 4 pillars of diversity was centered around our “reputation as an organization” (that really rubbed me the wrong way). At my last agency those conversations were always led by people of color from every level.

Someone on LinkedIn expressed disappointment about the lack of diversity from the big law firms in TX that were posting pics of their summer associates. A managing partner commented that he thought the post might be about a pic he posted (12/14 SAs were white). He tried to defend this by saying that they had LGBT and socioeconomic diversity. The fact that he recognized that his pic might be part of the problem says it all. Law firms need to do better. Sorry, I just wanted to rant.
