How does one grow and develop their technical skills when client work and admin processes take up 120% of the workday?

I can do my best to balance everything but simply too much client work to have time for training and PD, let alone networking, firm activities, selling, and other expectations for the job. except for July/August it feels like 10 months of busy season.

Is the expectation to be so invested in the career that we spend personal time learning trainings in lieu of family and hobbie
