I was a summer at Bain, I’d say mini-PLing C = CTL and PL = Manager, in the sense that you’re leading a team but have one client. As for other nuances unsure.
Tldr is I think it sucks that it takes so many extra levels to get to PL equivalent at Bain
Manager at Bain is equivalent to a more tenured PL or EM (McK). While CTL is not a hard promotion point the tenure and role (for the people who would make it if it were a hard promotion point) is equivalent to a first year PL - usually managing anywhere from 1-3 person, sometimes more, teams. There are also CTLs who are basically just still Cs. Manager at Bain will almost always be a team of 4+. From what I hear through the grapevine PL/EM it’s still relatively common to have much smaller teamlets at least earlier in your tenure.
Very interested to hear other perspectives though - I’m sure I get fed the pro-Bain take on the comparison
