Bain & Company My 13 YO is taking Career and Tech. She is dead set on diving for Michigan. What are her chances of getting hired from MBB with a degree from UM? Or would she need her MBA first? Is a Michigan degree good enough to get you into a top MBA program?

I recently joined TCS but I was moved into very different project which was told during hiring. Also they told me for joining incentive but later after 65 days of joining they didn't give saying your business aproval got rejected. I really want to be with TCS but due to project dissatisfaction, I am looking for different job. I am not sure if I can leave the organisation soo soon(4 months) and it should not effect my carrier.

A BCG recruiter ghosted me after she reached out to schedule an interview. How long should I wait before following up? What is the common courtesy to give to ppl at BCG. I don’t wanna come off as too aggressive but I really need to get this interview set as there are other pending confirmations Boston Consulting Group
McKinsey & Company I am joining the McKinsey & Company Boston office in late July and searching for housing in the meantime. If I could get some insight on the ratio of days in the office vs work from home that would be super helpful!
If I need to come into the office regularly I will try to find a place close by.
Anyone know the raise amounts for BCG yet?

Alternative perspective: you should not be lining your kid up for MBB as a 13 year old….

A 13 year old doesn’t need to be thinking about this just do well in school, hav fun, and try to get into a good college aka Michigan

Michigan undergrad is great and she is young. Chill.
BCG1, point taken. 🥺
I would never want my child to work at MBB

Unless you want them to develop anxiety and low self esteem, that is

Undergrad Michigan is a target university
Engineering is a big target program
I remember when 13 year olds were allowed to be kids.

Hahaha. She calls me that every day because she can’t have Snap or a boyfriend. I’m working on it. I admit I have issues. Not trying to defend myself. First to go to college, growing up there were times we had no viable transportation, couldn’t pay bills, dad laid off. I’m working on myself. Thanks for keeping it real!

She’s 13… Please let her live her life a little and explore what she wants to do before trying to plan out what she’ll do a decade from now
Subject Expert
I bet you don’t let her watch SpongeBob or eat sugary cereal either
Her favs are Lucky Charms and Chocolate Chex. She’s more into The Vampire Diaries.
EDIT: I am getting pushback (possibly justified, so a little background). She is required to take a class starting in middle school through senior year where she has to explore careers. They also have to write papers throughout their class years on their interests/research, etc.
She knows my background is diverse, but not MBB, and was asking me about different roles, and what does it mean to be a consultant. She also asked her dad, who graduated in Finance, but owns his own manufacturing business, his thoughts on what she should explore.
I shared a couple of links with her and it’s gone from there. Her sister wants to be a professional ballerina, and before COVID was being considered for some of the best classical ballet residency programs in the world. She’s also a teen. And no, we are not shipping her off to Vaganova/Russia, Paris, etc., as a young teen.
It’s just a conversation. I’m not saying one choice is better than the other. I’m not from an Ivy, and neither is my husband, and we’ve done okay in life. I just want her to see opportunities that I never saw.
I worked for over five years with MBB consultants, and while many of them are no longer with MBB, I saw the wonderful training, opportunities, and exposure to so many diverse assignments, corporations, start-ups, etc, after their exit.
I say try MBB/Big 4/T2 for a couple of years, she would learn so much and then transition into nearly any company/role she wants.
To be fair, MBB consulting is business facing, most people who become consultants don’t know anything about it before college (at least outside of hyper-privileged environments). No need to plan for it early.
Little to late for MBB, you have to start from birth.
I already am preparing to get cases ready for my future children
Gotta do you!
Michigan is a great school, would have no hesitation sending my child there.
13??????????????
I was going to be the next Stevie Ray Vaughan at 13
Sounds like shit coaches
Well Ross is definitely a target, but McKinsey and BCG campus recruit as well for all other programs. Bain doesn’t come to main campus, only Ross. BCG also backed off a bit on recruiting this year compared to last two. Source: me being a current MBA student at Ross.

They’re asking about undergrad which is different. Bain does recruit all campuses and all the firms mainly go through Ross
Source Michigan engineer who made it
I’m sorry, 13 years old?!?!
Your 13 year olds dream is to be a management consultant? Shoot higher kid!
I literally didn’t start thinking about college until halfway through senior year of high school, and I was a nerd who got into a good engineering program. I didn’t seriously start thinking about college until I had 54 semester hours of F’s on my transcript and I wanted to go to a good school in my mid 30s to finish my bachelors. Please let your 13 year be a 13 year old instead of Shepherding their future into the MBB/Ivy league pipeline.
Ross BBA is top 3 in the US. Source: ex Ross MBA and consistently was amazed by caliber of Ross BBAs in overlapping case comps / events.
Anything she does in high school will have zero, I promise zero, bearing on whether she gets an MBB job. Anything you do in high school is sort of at best an interesting talking point in an MBB interview, like if you’re the youngest concert pianist to perform at Carnegie or something, but that’s not a deal breaker or maker :)
Michigan is a great school, plenty of ppl get hired in MBB from it after bachelors. Going to MBB after undergrad vs MBA usually has to do with why you’re doing MBB and what you want you post-MBB job to be.
My advice on the other side of MBB is it’s great training, but that’s all it is. Being a consultant doesn’t teach you how to run a business as an operator, push yourself intellectually (push in some ways yes, but it’s not rocket science intellectually), or be happy in life. Maybe your daughter winds up curing cancer and getting all of her professional gratification from solving hard, truly hard, problems? We don’t know, but nobody is going to cure cancer from within MBB. I wouldn’t push MBB literally at all tbh, she can do cooler things either without or with MBB on her resume first.

We didn’t back off in total numbers we just hired our class through the internship program and so we didn’t have much left to do for FT MBA recruiting.
I was referring to Main campus recruiting for BCG. Maybe I’m seeing things wrong though.
Definitely a target, but probably would want to focus regionally. UM degree a lot more valuable in Detroit/Chicago than SFO
