My wife once decided in December one year she wouldn’t be back the next year. She knew if word got out, the undisciplined would kick it up another notch and the unsupportive admin would be less so. She told no one. So she used every sick day possible, started looking, accepted another job, and THEN turned in her resignation.
I'd say wait as long as you can. Some schools will ask you if you'll be returning and you can tell them then (if you feel comfortable) but if yours doesn't, give them the customary two weeks notice.
Good luck on your future endeavors!!
I would think a month before your last day would suffice.
School districts usually send out notices to see if you are happy with your placement, retirement, or quitting. Our district gives time frame of how benefits run. Benefits extend longer with sooner notification than later. Every district is different.
I would wait to towards the end of the school year. Unless you’re asked directly to sign something for next year, I would just wait. You never know what an admin will become vindictive as soon as they find out you’re leaving.
We are required to give 30 days.
My district will put a hold on your license for 30 days if you quit. I would wait until the year is over and secure something else before tendering my resignation.
