As far in advance as possible to get the day/date you want. The venue I wanted had not a single date available a year and a half out. We only really wanted a year engagement but that was the soonest available.
Agreed really depends on the venue, recommend generally a year in advance in the US if you have a specific date in mind. I booked mine 9 months in advance and had no problem with a Saturday in September but I was flexible for any Saturday that month
A year to nine months is typical I think.
Depends- do you care more about the venue or the date? For me, I knew the venue I wanted and a general time frame for the wedding. So we spoke with the venue and they gave us date options. We chose one from the options, and that was 14 months in advance.
Granted, this was 2022 so things were still crazy from covid. And my venue is in very high demand, so if we had waited until 9-12 months out, our preferred time frame would very likely not be available anymore

Depends on the time of year and your flexibility. Talk to venues. If they already have dates taken in your month of preference that tells you time is getting short. Ask for soft holds while you research. Most places will do that.
In the south March through April and Sept- Oct are book a year out. Summer is hotter so dates don't fill as quickly. I started looking 9 months and had most all vendors signed 7months for an early June wedding.
