Depends on what you’ll be doing in AAS?
I moved from audit to FAAS and mainly work on writing technical accounting memos now. It was a pretty steep learning curve. Just a completely different skill set needed compared to audit.
As a senior or below, not too much. Manager and above gets tougher.
Easier than audit imo
Disagree. There isn’t a PY to rely on in FAAS
A lot more technical so if you don't have a ton of experience writing memos and applying guidance than you might struggle. The operational accounting stuff can be difficult for those who don't truly understand certain things because there is no PY to SALY. You are usually building things from scratch to solve issues the company has never previously had to deal with or just never addressed before.
I much prefer advisory but it requires a lot more thought and has a lot less check the box type stuff.
PwC is hiring! DM for referral
Mindset switch is pretty big
I made this move and it was definitely tough. Like others have said there’s no PY to reference and everything is a new and one-off situation so it’s not like you get many repetitions in. You have to really want that challenge and enjoy technical topics and learning constantly, otherwise you may get burnt out.
