In-house politics are largely due to lack of ability/organization. Agency politics are largely due to arrogance and unkindness.

All depends on who’s running the marketing org both creatively and your CMO. We used to have an amazing team ran by CMOs with great taste, to then see it fall apart under new weak leadership. The same goes for agency side imo. If you have good people, politics tend to disappear. That’s why I follow people instead of companies. My two cents.

IMO yeah great people = good creative leadership, since they're the ones who are having conversations with senior marketing VPs etc, and that means fighting for your work

Three job interviews with a company, last one creating a marketing plan and presenting to marketing VP. I received good feedback from him. Three days later recruiter wants to give me a call and “give an update”. Schedules it after 2 days. This morning cancels last minute as they are having “internal discussions”. I’m really annoyed and tired. Thoughts?

Hi everyone! I am working with my HR to improve our maternity/paternity leave policy. Currently I only get 2 weeks fully paid and then an additional 8-12 weeks at 60% pay (short term disability). I need some examples of companies with less than 100 employees and what your maternity/paternity policy is. Please include company name! Thanks!!!

COVID policy for interns. How are you handling? Paid time off? Case-by-case? Are you sharing a specific policy (yes, I know it differs state-to-state)?

unhappy @ current agency & haven't sold any work in 8+ months. Went from overseeing jr teams & presenting to clients to being treated like an intern. Old cco said he'd hire me back. Bad career move?

I have submitted needed docs to HR as per request. When can I expect salary discussion/ offer letter?

Curious as to how many deals at once is typical for a first year associate to take on (M&A, mostly private equity clients). Deal size is lower middle market and I’ve worked on deals ranging from $1-$110M. 2 deals at once is plenty for me, but it seems like my peers are able to take on more than that at once and still do fine. Maybe I’m just a slow learner/out of my league at the big law firm I’m at.

Some companies just aren’t built to have in-house creative teams. I know because I landed at one.
