Moving to Bay Area in less than a month for work. Where are the more affordable neighborhoods in the area (work is closer to Palo Alto so I’m not SF specific)

Hi all! Any one have an opinion for average rent for a studio in Oakland / Berkeley/ Sf for a ~30 min commute to Embarcadero area in SF? I’m evaluating a job offer and debating whether it’s worth moving out to there from NYC.

SO and I (no kids) will be moving to Bay Area in early 2020 with a car. Both will be working in the Palo Alto / Mountain View Area. Better to just live where we work or possible to commute from SF?
