How is the WLB in financial reporting? Currently doing Consolidations and plan to move into financial reporting in the future. My job is pretty laidback coming from Big4 and our close isn’t bad. Work doesn’t hit until the after the first week after books are closed and really only lasts for a couple days. We would work maybe 45 hours week of but it’s not bad. Can anyone in financial reporting speak on their experience?

What level are you now? What level did u leave B4

I started a few months ago at a bank at the vp level (manager equivalent). WLB has pretty good thus far because we aren’t public so I will only need to work on financials during year-and and some light reporting during month-end.

Rest of the time I haven’t been working on financials, I spend doing disclosure requirements research for new business products.

I do expect the next few months will be busy as we have multiple entities that file year-end financials but definitely not as busy as public accounting which is where I was previously at.

Has anyone here renegotiated their salary after a short time being in a role? I accepted a position and I like what I do but I realize that the workload requires a lot to see success and I feel a bit burned out already with my 40 hours/week and occasional extra 30 minutes to an hour a day.

I am stuck between putting in my time and showing my value and asking for an increase to validate doing so to avoid job hopping after a year or so.

Hadn’t noticed this sub before, and most of the threads are old so thought I’d ask a follow up - how has everyone been handling parenting with public accounting? I’ve got a toddler and my wife is an accountant (industry), and we only have a few immediate family in the country- but they have health concerns. Busy season was rough, things are looking better now as things return to normal. Still working crazy hours if you count the daycare duties on top of utilization targets.

So after two weeks of waiting (and giving up on the idea of getting the job really), the recruiter got back to me.

They said due to month-end and quarter-end close they were busy and couldn’t get back to me as quickly for a “good update”.

The recruiter said the CFO enjoyed our call, she, the CFO, will call me next week directly to “discuss some final things”.

Not sure if Im hired or not, but are there any questions about the job, comp (cont.)
