OP, this post is SO SPOT ON that I legitimately had to second guess whether I wrote it and forgot...
I have to bill at least 10.5 every day for the rest of the month to meet my hours. Please be my friend bc I need someone to commiserate with who understands my pain lol.
Also, doing any business dev lunches or cle messes up the month. We bill for that time but its non-billable.
Yes. Currently making up hours from two weeks ago 🤦🏽♀️
Every month.
Yep. It can be really exhausting. I’d about given up when I got a new job offer (non-billing!) and it couldn’t have come at a better time. I’m wiped. Good luck
Congratulations!!! Happy for you, and quite jealous. :)
Not sure if it has to do with your firm, but there's no need to worry about hitting hours on a monthly basis. Annually (or perhaps quarterly) is a much better measurement period.
Monthly requirement at my firm, which means more likely to burn out
Yessss same. What’s your billing requirement?

Ma’am, the end of the month is next week.
I am not sure I get this... don’t you just work to deadlines as they happen? No time pressure = lazy, time pressure = panic and high billables. The only reason I look at where we are in the month is to count the days until I get paid...
I’m new to the firm and a rather new attorney. I have a hard time gauging my work load still. Like I don’t wanna take on too much

Associate Op. dont stress the billables in the beginning or they will expect it. Ease in.
Honestly. No. I have lateraled several times. Ease into it. If you come out of the gate, billing crazy, they will expect it. A little more than minimum will get it done.
