So I've had 2 hiring managers and several recruiters from Amazon reach out to me about applying for some open positions with the company (android). I completed the coding assessment and now they want me to go through a round of 5 hour interviews next week. Is there a good chance I'll be hired if engineering managers are reaching out to me? I'm really not sure how badly I want to work for them and I don't want to be laid off months after being hired on. Anyone know what Amazon hiring is like?

I have a 3 year old and almost 2 year old. When daycare / preschool shut down and both kids were home, it was awful. It was impossible for both of us to work and I was still in my busiest time in April and May. Daycare reopened in June and it's been good. Both kids used to have the typical daycare runny nose but they haven't gotten that or any sort of sickness since they have been back. The additional hand washing, sanitizing, and smaller classes probably help a lot. We are in the Los Angeles area. Good luck to all parents that need to deal with virtual learning. It will be tough.
Pretty rough. 4 months of having our son at home with us and joining us on video meetings, etc. His pre-school reopened a couple months ago, so we've been doing much better since then (he's been much happier, too). The big stresser right now is he is supposed to start kindergarten in a couple weeks and we don't know yet if the reopening plan will be approved and if it will be in person or virtual. Fully virtual would be really rough with 2 working parents.
Thanks for getting a discussion going in this bowl!
I have a 4 month old and a 2 year old. I have been on maternity leave and will be joining back next week. We will be sending both to daycare as we won’t be able to handle working from home and taking care of them. I’m worried about the whole COVID situation but not sure what else to do.
I dont know how you guys did it with both parents working... my wife is home full time and is getting crazy,i cant imagine if she needed to work
I have 2 toddlers by the way
My spouse and I are both in PA and tax, so busy season was rough with a toddler at home. But luckily we had help from the grandparents which we kept seeing. Hesitant to start them back in school, it has been stressful juggling everything, but still worried about COVID. Plus side: We have had more family time and been able to enjoy that.
