Do you have anything else to justify the ask outside of your peer who received a higher signing bonus (ie - another offer, a counteroffer from your current firm, walking away from a bigger bonus, lower comp, etc)? If so, I'd state those things as justification for the higher number and ask again. If not, then think through whether asking again is worth it to start at the new firm on potentially uncomfortable footing. You still might not get what you want, and there is a reason they only offered you half of what you asked for.
Careful on wording - “strongly considering ANOTHER offer” Ideally You are strongly considering the firm you are talking to but the other is offering better terms to sway you.

Every firm expects a little back and forth. Just don’t let it get to the point where on day one you each will start with a bad taste in your mouths.
