How much does a company’s culture impact your happiness at work? I used to believe it was secondary to pay, but now I am not so sure. What has your experience been?

Here's how I feel: a lot of jobs are going to have roughly the same amount of pay no matter where you work, probably with a variation of about 15%. The culture, however, can vary wildly from one company to the next. I'd rather make a little bit less money and love my job, because the alternative is spending 40 to 50 hours a week somewhere that makes you miserable. That's a lot of time to be miserable for not that much of a pay difference.

It makes a huge difference - it impacts motivation, performance, stress levels - far better to be in environment where your efforts are recognised and you’re happy

Happiness at work has become my new #1 priority. I've realized that when I'm surrounded by negativity and gossip and such, it starts to affect my overall mood and I struggle to shake it once I get home. So yes, poor company culture is a deal breaker no matter how great the pay is in my opinion.

THat is a great priority to have!

If the benefits are the same like good insurance, 401k match, etc. but one company pays a bit more while the other has a better culture, I’ll choose culture every time. At my last job, I made about $15k less, but I genuinely liked the people. I felt comfortable, and even though my ideas weren’t always used, they were heard and appreciated.

My new job? The culture is awful. Everyone’s isolated and overworked. If you talk or take a breather, people act resentful like you're slacking even though we’re all paid the same. I used to be upbeat and social, but now I keep my head down and just grind. And honestly, I hate it.

I have noticed that the culture has a huge impact on my stress levels and overall happiness in my role. If the environment is toxic then people cannot thrive because they are constantly stressed and it affects your work and your overall health.

Culture has been a big factor in why I haven’t left my current role for higher pay. Luckily I get fair pay increases each year, but I could be making more or moving up the ladder somewhere else. The cost would be risking leaving a comfortable and relaxed work environment for a high stress and competitive culture. We’ve had several people leave and then come back for a pay cut just because they were unhappy in their new roles! You have to consider the entire package as your compensation (culture, PTO, healthcare, 401k, hours, remote work) I value my time and having benefits like remote work, the ability to log off at 5pm, and unlimited PTO out weigh some monetary benefits for me.

Totally makes sense. I find myself missing my last workplace all the time even though i was not being promoted! Great manager and lovely team.

Two jobs where I just chased a bigger paycheck were the worst jobs I ever had, and were career setbacks. My best and longest jobs weren’t the most competitive paying, but they were great people and had good benefits - like now. My 10 yr anniversary is coming up.

Hey everyone! I recently sold my business and decided to transition to SAAS sales world. Hello! How can I break into the creative branding industry with 3 years of basic marketing knowledge, a self made website, and an extensive sales background in the CPG industry

PR Groups. Might need to fire ours. They aren’t forward thinking enough for our brand and the reach we want to attain. Small, innovative shops would be nice without a shit ton of overhead. Local not necessary. But overall creative thinkers that aren’t just order takers. Got any good references?

I have worked in marketing for about 6-7 years. First few years were in social media management. My goal is to work at a big tech company.

I’ve heard mixed results about the ROI of earning an MBA. My near future goal is to move into a Marketing Director (or senior manager) role.

1) How much does Google, Amazon, Microsoft, etc. value MBAs in the hiring process?

2) Anyone currently working at the companies above with only a BBA?

Current situation: Marketing Manager, 90k, NYC.

Facebook Ads after iOS 14 changes.

I'll share my experience and urge you to share yours:

Since iOS 14 changes, Facebook ads isn't the same anymore. Why?

A. >75% iOS users denied tracking. They are no longer tracked across websites/apps. Facebook lost its edge.
B. Targeting and conversion tracking aren't as effective anymore.
C. Many advertisers have been migrating their budgets from Facebook to Apple and Amazon ads.

What's your experience? Let's all learn.

So, recently got put on a PIP after six months at my new job., two days after I told my boss and HR I recently learned I have a cognitive disability caused by an illness. The PIP was mostly because I forgot some deadlines, but also they said I need to be more professional in emails (even though others use zero punctuation and a lot of emojis. To clients.) and simultaneously ask more questions and ask fewer questions. Should I just assume this is unattainable and look for a new job again?

So- we run Dynamic Creative Optimization (DCO) for our clients display ads in a feed and corresponding google sheet via Google DoubleClick. My q is- does anyone know what systems out there allow for creating a template that will automatically pull a product image from say Target.com and automatically building the ad & copy without manually making 1000 ads via row for row in the google sheet? I know this is possible but curious if Sizmek or Flashtalking are more common in this type of creative development.

I’m interviewing for a start up and the role sounds interesting. Usually for the “test” part of the interview I’ve had to analyze data. Is this a lot for an interview?

I’m a little afraid of doing all this work to then just have them take my ideas and not hire me.
