Going to be level dependent for sure. What’s your current total comp and level?

As a senior associate? 130k + bonus. Opportunity is a little higher base with set bonus that’s on the lower end of current. So the total pay is probably the same, except I’m pushing for promotion this year.
Depends on level, which firm you are leaving, and where you are going.
MBB to some whatever company for an average role? Yeah, a decent cut there, likely over 30%. Boutique firm exit to PE? Likely see a sharp raise. It all depends.

I consider non professional services as industry, aka not banking, PE, consulting, etc.
It’s really a mix bag. Don’t think for a second that industry is better, better HOW? Family time, pay, future prospects….?, it’s just other problems you deal with. The good thing about consulting is the engagement finishes and you can move on esp if it’s a crappy client. I moved from consulting with 200% pay increase to industry - I’m an outlier- and there were great time and then other times it was a massive mess with zero governance / structure / best practices etc. my 2 cents is to take your time with the next role. Don’t rush it! Figure out what you want, value proposition, and how moving to industry X specialization will help your goals and career.

These are great points, thanks for your insight. I’m just testing the water at the moment to see how the job market is only if the recruiters ask to consider. I don’t see myself being a career consultant but not dissatisfied or anything either.
It depends on the role in industry you take.
