I don’t answer. If it’s an emergency, call me. I even put that in my OOO
I go through them once a day to flag and organize them into folders but I don’t answer anything unless it’s an emergency.
Not at all. I’m in-house & I have business partners reach out to my paralegal for unexpected “emergencies” when I’m OOO. If she thinks it’s a true emergency, she will call me. Otherwise, she will handle it or tell business to wait until I return.
Not at all. The managing makes it know to clients that we are answerable during business hours 9-5. And if it really needs to be answered either your paralegal or supervising partner can answer it. I have still sent an email or two in some instances. But 85% to 90% I will log and answer later
I always check. When I take a longer vacation, I use an auto reply, so people know who they can contact instead if it’s urgent. If it’s a shorter OOO and I don’t have vacation auto reply turned on, I will forward important messages to others to handle.
If it needs my attention when I return, I set a reminder to deal with it then. If it’s super important and urgent then I respond, wherever I am.
