It doesn't get better bruv, go in-house and spare yourself the work trauma
Opportunities in-house are much less compared to agency. Common place for you to be in a role for 3-4yrs vs. agency you can get promoted annually as the business expands.
I found it depends on your team, you could work for an awesome place but have the worst manager. Focus on your career goal and the people you will interact with on a regular basis.
It's definitely different agency by agency. I mean, it's never a cake walk, but some are much better than others. You just have to find your niche.
Most of the agencies I know or have worked with only promote 4 out of 10 people. They often just hire new people.
Three times on the agency side. Two were money moves and the worse career moves I ever made. No money was worth what I went through in the end.
I was at an agency for over 10 years - not consecutively. They asked me back when one of my money moves didn’t work out. And yes, I got a salary increase. Best of all, I came back to a place I really enjoyed with great people.
It’s been years since I left and I’ve gone in-house. My old team and I still get together for poker nights. Last week, it was for a funeral for one of our own sadly. So healthy agency environments exist. You have to really search for them. When you do into an interview, make sure you interview them too.
