Really emphasize how much you loved learning about the topic in school and are also a quick learner-if that’s true for you. Maybe speak about related internship experiences or projects. Everybody has to start somewhere and I find an eagerness to learn and that I’m a quick learner has always been a great selling point for me.
Research the company and ask questions. This will also give you a chance to show off your research.
"I read that xyz company just acquired ABC company. How has that been for your position?"
"I read that xyz company has had ROS better than industry average. What do you think is driving that success"
Be honest. Don't try to present yourself as knowing more than you actually do. They already know you don't have much real-world experience, which means they're probably looking for someone who they can train and mold to their processes. Just come armed with some questions about the company and the role, and be ready to share whatever information they're looking for from you.
I'm with you on this! Don't put yourself in difficult situations just to appear as if you know everything. Just be honest and tell them where you're at.
Stress desire to learn and don't overpromise because you'd hate to look like a fool if you eventually do get the seat you're applying for. Do as much research and gather as much info as you can. Go on Glassdoor, I'd bet there's information about senior officials on there at the company you're interviewing for.
