How would you write a report card comment that had concrete feedback that was specific and actionable if your time with the student was coming to an end? (I'd love some examples)

I would focus on positive advice that would help the student be successful in the next term. "Johnny has started to make progress in [XYZ] that I hope continues in the next term."

Thanks, the issue that I am having is that I'm done with those students at the end of this week and will have new students next week but I'm being asked to give actionable comments to the students that are leaving me...

Focus first on a positive attribute in regards to skill, make a suggestion for improvement, then sandwich it with something positive about the student's personality/character etc.

It only took me 7 years to figure this system out.... posting in case it helps anyone else! I color coded my classes and printed off numbers according to the number of kids in my classes. I then assign each kid a number that corresponds with my gradebook. When they turn in their projects, they put their number with it. This way, no contact and I can easily see who has and hasn't turned in their projects yet. I take the list down once they remember their number.

High School Independent study student: Do you give them a curriculum, due dates, completed project number, projects/processes to choose from, a final show? What does an ideal student look like to you?

We talk about keeping rigor in our classes, however I’m finding my HS students need straight forward instructions. Most students are struggling to meet their Maslow’s needs that to use higher Blooms seems like a stretch. How are you all supporting creativity and originality in artwork when kids are struggling to keep afloat?

My school deliberately cut the number of classes that the specials teachers teach so that we could be building subs for quarantined and sick teachers (we are hybrid). So... I teach fewer classes (which is a relief because specials teachers teach way more classes than core teachers normally) but I'm pulled for most of my planning periods to babysit classes. I need my planning periods so I can redo my ENTIRE curriculum... and I just feel unappreciated, used, and nothing more than a babysitter.
