Hi Everybody,
I'm currently working as an outsource in Rapid Metro as Technical Assistant/Civil. I earned a Master degree in Water Resource Engineer after B.Tech in Civil Engineering. Due to Covid 19 I took job back in Civil sector even though I have a masters degree in WRE. It's been almost 6 months of constant applying and rejection and still I'm nowhere close to a job in my dream branch which is the Water sector.Im hopeful that through this portal I may find an entry level position in water
Ok be honest, candidates. I really love this set of questions, I’ve been considering shifting my current interview style to these questions - I think they really give you an idea of who this person would be within the work setting. But the questions almost feel too deep for a recruiter to ask. What would you think if a recruiter took a different path and asked these questions instead of the usual ones?

If they ask, or obviously not lying if they ask "why are you looking to leave"
I would just frame it as "My role was eliminated as part of a broader restructuring, but I really enjoyed my time with the company." unless you got fired for performance
When you work in a renowned organization then the lay off is usually massive and there is no harm in disclosing this to an interviewer since it brings honesty to the table.
When the hiring firm discloses that they are looking to hire because the prior person in the role quit, and they also disclose the reasons why.

My favorite response to have you ever been fired was. No, but I've been laid off while they were still hiring.
Unless someone asks you directly, I would feel no obligation to say anything. If you were "let go" and eligible for unemployment versus fired for cause ( which has to be pretty egregious) then the assumption in today's market is it was a reduction in headcount and you lost the lottery. You drew the short straw. Lots of people get laid off and have no idea they got tapped versus the guy in the next cubicle. They are just looking for a tell from you that indicates you got shown the door because you couldn't cut it. Don't flinch
