You only triple check? I wish my anxiety let me be that careless and freewheeling! 😓
Hm. That passed after a few months. I self review and only detail review for email communication word flow, understandability, and presentation.
Anyhow don’t worry so much, this is why we have multiple levels of review. You’re not going to be perfect when reviewing thousands of boxes, lines, etc per week. Your managers eyes are trained to look in places you don’t think. Every time you find a new mistake, write it down and make a list of the things you should be looking for. You can just copy and paste into an email, word or one note to save time.
If you’re repeating previous mistakes, or just missing a high number of things, it’s probably your anxiety making you perform worse. Try to cool out, I mean, it’s just a job. Literally no one else is going to look at most of what your doing after you and your manager submit it. Funny, sad, and true in a majority of cases.
mistakes are going to happen. that is why we have multiple levels of review. do your best, if you don't understand something make sure to ask questions, and highlight anything you aren't 100% sure on.
Exactly what TM1 said. That’s barely even a mistake. Resend the email and add the person on with a note that you forgot and move on your with day. Don’t dwell on it, the more you dwell on it, the more your superior will dwell on it too. If work mistakes could be measured in injuries, that’s the equivalent of chapped lips. Try to get in a better mindset, that’s the root of your problem, the anxiety because you’ve made little mistakes while your learning and we’ve been conditioned to always be perfect. You’re never going to be perfect, and if you are, you’re going to work a lot more hours or only get one task done per day. Exercise helps, walks help, friends help, spouses help, kids help, hiking helps, kayaking, biking, etc, that all helps me with anxiety. But frankly, when I look at the bigger picture that’s what really helps. At the end of the day our job is to deliver an email (or two) to a client, with financial statements or tax returns or whatever, and they will look at it briefly and submit it to who they need to. Job done, firm gets paid. No one is going to think back and say wow, that engagement was crazy, do you remember when EY OP didn’t copy that person on the email and had to resend it?! Man, glad we got through that. We really dodged a bullet!
