I've had a hybrid role for the past 4 years where I get unlimited sick days (well 14 really until fmla kicked in), 3 weeks of vacation, 3 personal days. I am also given the week after Xmas off. if my toddlers are sick I can work at home with them. Interviewing w fortune 500 that offers 15 pto days that have to use for sick days too.Strictly in office job 9-5 and dress bus.prof. These bad benefits? Outdated culture?I am a seasoned professional. Seems tough.
Does anyone have any insights on what a typical Sr. Associate Director makes at Boehringer Ingelheim? I have a range of 170-180k which I think is fair but don’t want to be underpaid. Also, any information regarding retirement planning or medical/dental benefits would be helpful. Haven’t gotten much out of HR. Thanks in advance!

I’ve had to do it all the time. Frankly I detached myself from feeling any of it early on. I’m not the business owner so I don’t get to decide how they want to run things. I’ve advised against certain things and they’ve agreed sometimes, but not always. So I’ve just treated everything transactionally and for a paycheck. As long as they don’t try to enforce anything illegal I’m fine with it. Legality is where I draw the line, I’d quit if they want to enforce anything unlawful.
I have not worked directly in HR, but from friends who do, they say it happens more than people think. Some policies feel wrong, but the job is to balance company needs and personal values. It is tough, but picking the right company helps a lot. Would you still consider HR if you found the right culture?
I'd never want to work in HR, in part because of this. Employees are conditioned to not trust HR, and HR is almost always the bearer of bad news. Who wants to have to fire people or force them to return to office?
