This bowl isn’t for free legal advice. Go to small claims
Oh the irony. Wants to sue for unpaid work, but expects the attorney to work for free to help.
I want to know what my legal options are
Then you should probably talk to an attorney IRL that you are paying, not trying to get free legal advice in a forum meant for attorneys to network together.
Filing fees in small claims court would probably run you 1/3 (if not more, I don’t practice in FL) of you’re owed and could potentially receive from going to small claims court. Not to mention valuable time and time = money. You could easily file a web form complaint with the wage & hour division of the DOL or equivalent state agency, though it could take quite awhile for anything to come of it. I’d drop it and move on with my life but that’s just me and not legal advice.
Some states have administrative bodies (e.g., labor commission or department of industrial relations) that can help with these issues faster than small claims and at no cost. Google should get you where you want to go.
Why are you labeled as “Attorney”?
